Top 5 Christian Beliefs

Do you believe that God is all-powerful and all-knowing? Do you think that He created the universe and everything in it? Do you believe that it is accurate and trustworthy?

There are many questions regarding Jesus Christ and even more so about Christianity. Many people choose not to believe because they haven't had any religious experience that has led them to believe. I was one of those people. Even though I was raised in the church, I didn't have that defining moment until college.

Here are the 5 main beliefs that Christians uphold:

1. The Bible is the authoritative source of guidance for their lives.

Christians believe the Bible is the authoritative source of guidance for their lives. This belief is based on the conviction that the Bible is inspired by God and contains his revealed truth. As a result, Christians view the Bible as a reliable source of guidance for all aspects of life.

The Bible is not just a collection of stories or moral teachings but is God's Word to us. 2 Timothy 3:16 says, "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness." In other words, the Bible is trustworthy because it comes from God himself.

When we read the Bible, we can be confident that we hear from God himself. He uses his word to teach, correct, and train us in righteousness. As we submit to the authority of Scripture, we align our lives with God's truth. This brings us into greater harmony with him and enables us to live his intended life.

The Bible is not just a human book; it is truly God's Word to us. As we submit to its authority, we are aligning our lives with his truth and living the life he intended for us.

2. Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

He is fully human and fully God. This belief is based on the conviction that Jesus is the unique Son of God who came to earth as a human being to save us from our sin.

Based on the assumption that Jesus was born from a virgin, he performed miracles, and he rose from the dead. Christians also believe that Jesus is the only way to salvation. As a result, this belief serves as a critical foundation for Christianity.

The Bible tells us that Jesus is the only way to know God. In John 14:6, Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

This is a radical claim that goes against everything our culture tells us. We are taught that there are many ways to find truth and meaning in life. But Jesus said that he is the only way to know God.

John 14:6
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

In addition, the Bible includes various teachings that one God exists in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This belief is based on passages from the Bible, such as Matthew 28:19-20. The Trinity is an essential part of Christian beliefs and is a foundation for many other aspects of Christian theology.

1 Corinthians 8:6

Yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist.

3. Salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ.

Many people seek salvation, but few understand what it truly entails. Salvation is not simply a matter of attending church or being a good person. Instead, we can be saved only through faith in Jesus Christ. Christ died on the cross for our sins, and His death provides the only way for us to be forgiven and receive eternal life.

Romans 10:9-10

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

When we put our faith in Him, we acknowledge that we are sinners in need of a Savior. We also confess that we cannot save ourselves; only Christ can do that. When we receive Christ as our Savior, we are made new creations in Him. We are given His righteousness and begin a new life with Him. This belief is based on the conviction that Jesus is the only way to salvation. As a result, Christians view faith in Jesus as essential for eternal life.

4. Jesus will return to earth to judge the living and the dead.

This belief is based on the conviction that Jesus is the only way to salvation. As a result, Christians view this event as significant for determining who will spend eternity in heaven or hell.

No one knows when Jesus will return, but we know it will be a time of judgment for everyone. The Bible tells us that Jesus will judge the living and the dead based on their deeds. (Revelation 20:12) This means that everyone will be held accountable for their actions, both good and bad.

Revelation 20:12

And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books.

The good news is that Jesus is a fair and just judge, and he will consider our intentions and actions. So if you have ever done something wrong, don't worry. Just ask for forgiveness, and Jesus will forgive you.

1 John 1:9

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

When Jesus returns, there will be a great separation between those who have accepted him as their Savior and those who have not. (Matthew 25:31-46) Those who have not accepted Jesus as their Savior will be condemned to eternal punishment, while those who have will inherit eternal life.

John 3:36

Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.

So what does this mean for us today? It means we must be prepared for Jesus' return at all times. We need to live our lives in a pleasing way to God so that when Jesus comes back, we will be ready to meet him.

1 John 2:28

And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming.

5. Christianity is united in different interpretations of Christian beliefs.

Although their shared beliefs unite Christians, they are still divided by theological debates and differing interpretations. With a wide range of information, there are times people disagree on many things. However, the truth speaks more than confusion. According to the Bible, God created the world and everything in it. He is perfect, holy, and just. they are united in their belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Additionally, they share common values such as love, forgiveness, and compassion.

Galatians 3:28

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Even though Christians may have different interpretations of the Bible, they are still able to come together and worship God. This is because they have a shared reliance on Jesus Christ and His teachings. When Christians gather together to worship, they can forget about their differences and focus on their faith.

Worshiping together is one of the ways that Christians can unite despite their differing beliefs by coming together and focusing on the one and only God.

I knew there was more to life than just going through the motions. I had a personal relationship with God, and that changed everything. If you're questioning whether or not Christianity is true, I encourage you to seek God with an open heart and mind. You may not have the same experience I did, but I promise you that God will reveal himself to you in a perfect way.

Christianity is not a religion of blind faith. It's a relationship with the one who created us. It's a personal decision to follow Christ and allow him to lead our lives.  So, if you're wondering if Christianity is the right path for you, my prayer is that God will reveal himself to you in a powerful way and that you will surrender your life to him.
